Bella Rune works with sculpture that can take a performative role. She often uses tactile materials such as metallic textiles, wires coloured with printer ink and inflatable plastic. Questioning the limitations of a given space, Rune´s work tends to bridge different spaces and worlds, in this case rustic stone floor architecture and the digital space generated by smartphones. Her trompe l’oeil digital collages of fountains reference several icons contemporary culture. Acting as carpets they also contain hidden images, accessible through digital technology – thus creating a three-dimensional sculpture that skews the meaning and hieroglyphic symbols at play in the work.
