With great sensitivity and highly skilled manual finesse Sophie Baumgärtner picks up nature’s principles of construction and form – to translate them into aesthetic and complex objects of art jewellery. She creates, in the tradition of chamber of wonder pieces, unique specimens, which link natural products and artefacts. Baumgärtners pieces represent an understanding of author jewellery: each piece is unique, a “Kleinod”, that can be worn as jewellery, but also can be recognized as an autonomous object.
