Sinopale 4, “Wisdom of Shadow: Art in the Era of Corrupted Information”
Curator: Işın Önol

In How Far is 12 cm? Film projectors act as instruments, generating light and sound. While film material is absent, motor-driven objects (empty film pools, nylon strings, etc.) are placed between the projectors and the canvas. The speed of the moving objects as well as the strength of the light changes continually. Shadows suddenly appear, overlap, and disappear. How Far is 12 cm? engages with absence and the usually unnoticed. The sound comes from the machines, being partially amplified. Just like the cast shadows, the sound appears, overlaps, and vanishes. All elements are controlled via software. How Far is 12 cm? can be presented as an installation, following a pre-programmed composition, as well as performance. Made in collaboration with Peter Kutin.
