Sinopale’s Relational Atlas 6

SINOPALE’S RELATIONAL ATLAS 6

Chain Reading

For this part of “Sinopale’s Relational Atlas” series, Riikka Tauriainen will hold a collective reading session with three other participant artists/writers, Caroline Ann Baur, Livia Bergmeijer, and Patil Tchilinguirian.

Using Riikka’s past work for Sinopale 2012 “A paradigm of the hidden economy” as an approximative reference point, the four explored the theme of relational geography, as proposed by curator Rana Öztürk, through individually written and curated texts that are bridged together by their interconnected themes, content and format.

You can view the documentation of the artwork Riikka Tauriainen produced in Sinopale 4 titled “An Unobserved Paradigm of the Hidden Economy” in the archive. Click for “An Unobserved Paradigm of the Hidden Economy, 2012”.

PROJECT: SINOPALE’S RELATIONAL ATLAS

This project will look at Sinopale as a site of relational encounters through each edition of the biennial and explore what kind of previously non-existing or invisible links between Sinop and other places occurred through the artworks produced and exhibited in Sinop.  By being situated in a specific place, a biennial raises the question of what it means for artists, artworks, and audiences to be at that specific place at that specific time, when it is no longer possible to think of places and times as disparate entities in a global world.
